This site has changed a lot since I last visited it. I'm looking to by my dad a pocketpc and have noticed that they really don't make them anymore. So I was thinking I would get a smartphone but disable phone capabilities (if that is even possible).
However I would want it to support a few other goodies. Here they are:
Windows Mobile 6.5
GPS
bluetooth
wifi
camera (not necessary but it would be swell if it had it)
Does anyone have any suggestions on any pocketpc's or smartphones (that can have phone capabilities disable to save on battery life)?

I think you'd wasting your money buying a phone then disabling the phone portion. This is hard for me to say, but, gasp, maybe an iPod Touch would be a better choice. It doesn't have GPS or a camera, but in terms of pure PDA functionality, it's pretty hard to beat with all the apps available.
Alternatively, you could pick up a used iPaq 210 or something similar (VGA screen, etc.). The problem with the older used devices is that they're unlikely to have 6.5 available for them.
I'm afraid the market has sort of moved away from what you want for your dad...the PDA is dead.

I know I'm behind the times, but I recently purchased a used pda on amazon. Used & refurbished units were also available. I LOVE my pda!! I don't need a smartphone, I have a simple tracphone that perfectly suits my phone/texting needs. I'm retired, at home most of the time and the pda is perfect for me. I find there's plenty of support available online, so I can usually get my questions answered. Let me know if you have questions.

If you need WM6.5 support, I'd take a serious look at the HTC Advantage. They pop up every once in a while.
It's the largest WM6.x device I can think of at this time.
But, I agree with Jason, you might want to take a look at an iPod Touch or the new Samsung Galaxy Player that should be out soon.
