Hard disks are unpredictable and are prone to failures leading to data loss. Research shows that every year 43% of computer users lose valuable data. The best way to hedge your data storage risk is to store critical data on the cloud."

Even the best backup methodologies usually neglect off-site backups. Personally, I'm a control freak with my backups and I'm not willing to trust any service with either the confidentiality or availability of my data, but if you are here are four free services that will give you 10 GB of online storage. I still use off-site storage, but it involves swapping external hard drives to a secure offsite location. The disadvantage being that my offsite backups are not quite as current as they would be with an online service, but that is a risk I'm willing to take.
