In-house testing reportedly showed 3TB of usable space on Snow Leopard, indicating that Mac users should be able to utilize the full capacity of the drive without any special configurations or software updates."

The 3TB Constellation was announced yesterday, and now they have confirmed that it will indeed be fully functional for Mac owners, as long as they have Snow Leopard. Older systems might not recognize the entire drive "without using long logical block addressing" but installation should be easier on Macs since they already "utilize the necessary EFI firmware" instead of using a BIOS. The drive is expected to be released later in the year but no word on specific date or pricing.

I'm all for bigger hard drives, but the hard drive companies know that most people don't have this much content to store...

Haha, yeah, that's very true - people who pirate movies in a huge way chew up hard drive space. Maybe they're the ones the hard drive industry is counting on.
