That would make home-based printing more feasible; right now ink is so expensive, I'm not sure I'd be all that interested in printing an image without making sure it looked good via my computer. What about you? Can you see a printer like this sitting in your kitchen and being used for photo prints, sans computer?</p>

In MY / Our kitchen? No.

In SOMEONE'S kitchen? Perhaps.

After all, "instant cameras" are enjoying somewhat of a surge in popularity - there is something about being able to pass around a Real Print that adds considerably to the social aspect of an event.

Oh. How many events take place in your kitchen? Or near a 110V outlet?

Haven't there been a number of Portable Photo Printers introduced in the past few years? How well have those done??

For the casual user - like the Mom in the video - this might be Just The Thing...

I own this printer, though it is not in the kitchen. It is a nice looking device, but it looks even better in my home office. While the C309, as it is also known and which is much easier to type than HP Photosmart Premium Touchsmart All in One, is smaller than most microwave ovens, it just doesn't strike me as a kitchen appliance. I have a computer in my kitchen. That took a bit of convincing of my wife, but if I started adding other items there, I might be in real trouble.

Besides, the C309 is a wireless device and my kitchen computer communicates with it flawlessly. I deleted several of the HP widgets that came with the printer and which you can use without the PC. I have retained Google maps and Fandango and Snapfish. They work fine, but they are not any faster than using the computer to print the same result. The most used widget for me is the one that prints notebook, graph and other specialized paper.

Sadly, HP (or anyone else) will likely never decrease ink cartridge costs. It's an almost-direct analogue to the razor pricing model.
