Since I'm sure there are several of you out there (like me) that have pre-ordered an iPad, here are a few news items to close out the day since tomorrow we will have that special device in our little hands.

Appletell reported that should your iPad need a new battery, you will still have to pay the $99.00 USD fee, but that will get you a new iPad to go along with the battery. According to the Apple website, "If your iPad requires service due to the battery's diminished ability to hold an electrical charge, Apple will replace your iPad for a service fee." Nice, but there is some disagreement as to how the coverage will apply, as referenced by this article from TidBITS.

<MORE />For the latest in FAQ lists, Macintouch has a list they have been updating since the announcement so it has pretty current information.

If you are looking for some free books to store on your iPad, Project Gutenberg has the goods for you and they are supposed to be compatible.

The folks over at AppAdvice had a few tidbits of information as well. You may or may not be able to get some of the accessories by April 3rd, as it seems there are some delays (as late as May according to TUAW) in the covers and charging cables. But there are several good things such as the iPad will be a part of the "Find my iPhone" function of MobileMe. You will also be able to read any book that follows the ePub standard so while you won't be able to transfer purchases from iBook, you will be able to import books that are using the same format. And the iPad will be able to read your email and books to you if you choose. And finally, you will be able to post YouTube favorites to Facebook from your iPad and best of all, the App Store will have a dedicated section for the iPad.

And if by chance you are waiting for the 3G version, Cult of Mac has some info on just how easy it is to sign up for service here.

To those of you, like me, that are picking one up tomorrow, enjoy! I'll post a review next week. Have a great weekend!
