In the same quarter from the previous year they posted a loss of $1.3 billion, which was the result of debt from buying Tele Atlas, a map producer. I don't have GPS other than the one in my iPhone 3GS, and to be honest using Google Maps on it works just fine for me. I suppose if I was traveling in a city I was unfamiliar with that the turn-by-turn would come in handy, but I'm thinking using the AT&amp;T Navigator would work find and I'd only need it for a short time anyway. Do you use one of the GPS programs on a regular basis, and if so, is it handy to have even in locales you are familiar with?&nbsp;</p>

I have TomTom Europe and Navigon Europe available for the iPhone - yeah I know ... I am currently favouring Navigon because it includes (In App Purchase) Traffic, and IMHO looks graphically more interesting than the simplistic maps on TomTom.
I dont use it on routes I already know. But I find it a very helpful tool - as I always have it with me - whereas I always had to remember to bring the TomTom standalone unit when I had one.
Turn by Turn with Street Names is very useful and I have the TomTom GPS cradle that works with both apps very nicely and gives me hands free use too. Its not a cheap option - particularly if you have both like I do - but Navigon's convenience has made it worth owning that in particular.

I use Navigon and am mostly happy with it. My main compaint though is not really related to the applications exactly. I really wish I could answer the phone without quitting the application. I know I can put the call in the background and bring it back up, but all in all that takes a minute or two and sometimes it causes me to miss a turn. I don't want to get into the whole running multiple apps debate here, but it seems like if they are going to let you run an app while the phone is active, they should let you answer the phone while keeping the app running. If I could just press a button while the phone is ringing and put it on speaker while my other app kept chugging along I would be much happier.
