Called Confluence, the new look blends some of the best features of XBMC's previous default skin (PM3.HD) with several other popular skins for pretty impressive results."</em></p><p><img src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com/resizer/thumbs/size/600/dht/auto/1261943662.usr20447.jpg" style="border: 1px solid #d2d2bb;" /></p><p>XBMC is one of the best HTPC software packages out there and it just keeps getting better. The most recent update sees some usability changes and fixes and the new skin, Confluence. I have always appreciated custom HTPC packages over that which is offered by my cable and satellite providers. Not only is there more control and flexibility, I find the interface far more engaging and user friendly. With PCs capable of 1080p output under $200 such as ION based nettops, there are fewer and fewer reasons to stick with whatever your TV provider offers.</p>

Indeed. I had XBMC (and Boxee) on my Apple TV until the 3.0 update. XMBC seemed lame but upon further review it looks outstanding. Especially with the new Xperience skin that mimics NXE :) I think I've found the solution to my new media center. Keeping the ATV and reflashing it to get XBMC (The new Aspire Revo with full ION graphics and dual core Atom still looks intriguing though)

I've been using XBMC for several months now and I don't have a single complaint. I've always had issues getting my iMon remote to work, but that's more of an issue of me not knowing Linux (though they say the latest release supports more remotes out of the box *fingers crossed*)
The Alpha release of 9.11 was super unstable, to the point where we couldn't make it through a single TV show, so we went back to 9.04 in hopes of bug fixes. Now that it's fully released, I'm chomping that the bit to get home from holidays and install 9.11 Live. 9.04 has been a champion for us (zero issues) though the reason for the upgrade is the remote support and the pretty new Confluence skin... looks super slick.
Our setup
Intel E7500
2GB RAM
Asus (generic something) Mobo with built in Digital Optical and HDMI
8GB USB JumpDrive as the boot/os Drive
Thermaltake Mozart SX VC7001SNS Chassis (the reason for IR remote support)
All media is streamed over the network from a D-Link DNS-323 NAS

Looks pretty cool! I'm once again feeling the urge to rip all my DVDs, but does XBMC support ISO files?
