The tests were done in Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, San Francisco and Washington, D.C. The key point is that you need to be in a metropolitan area to even get the 3G speeds, so that is still a problem, one that Verizon has been pointing out regularly in their ads. But it is nice to know that, if you get in a 3G area, you will get a speedy connection if you are on AT&amp;T, reassuring right?</p>

Verizon's network is grossly overrated. Yes their "3G" coverage is everywhere their network is, but that doesn't mean the speed is the same everywhere. My speeds ranged from 500-700k with Verizon and 400-600k with AT&T.

Wow. That's earth shattering.

So what?

I travel quite a bit and mostly to major metro areas so I should have good 3G coverage from AT&T. I've used several AT&T 3G modems, my iPhone and most recently a Verizon MiFi. I typically get a better connection with Verizon than I get with AT&T.

Of course, they both treat their customers like crap. My wife and kids are on T-mobile and while they have worse coverage, they at least know how to treat customers.
