I have currently 60 GB Hard drive on my desktop. My desktop has window XP Professional operating system. If I win this hard drive then I will replace my old hard drive from my desktop. nways its very old and it can crash any time.
I will also go for hard drive partition. I will go for 3 partition. 2 partitions I will use for windows and in 3rd partition I want to install linux. So i want to have dual boot on my pc (one window and one linux). I wanted to do this from long time But because my hard disk is very small so i didn't go for this option.

In window, I will use 1st partition for windows install. In 2nd partition of window i want to have backup, diskimage of os, my daily use data, photos all other type of data.:)

Probably use as an external drive unless I can find an easy way to replace my current system drive. Perhaps if/when I reformat to Windows 7 this could become my new primary drive. I currently have 160, 500, and 1000 GB drives in my PC, but pictures and movies (and apps and system restore points) take up a lot of space.

Probably put into my Ubuntu media server as additional storage spaces :), current hard drive size only has about 150GB, which is filling up very quick.

Since this would not work in my old PC, and it would be nice to use to transfer files with my work laptop (once in a while) I'd get an external case for it, and make it my external HD for backups, and transfering files (like music) to my work laptop.
Also, I could use it to bring to my mom's place so I can do anything I need to for her (like backups or whatever).

More Fun!

I will use this as an external drive to hold my growing home video collection.

I will use it to replace my current 80 gig data drive. It is almost full and could really use a replacement.

Put my name in the hat.

This drive will replace my 7-8 year old Samsung drive that is currently in my 7-8 year old machine at home (sadly). And yes, that's my main computer! lol. Pathetic aren't I?

I would use as my back up to replace my 80 and 250 gig hard drives

I have a friend, Sharon, who has all of her family's digital photos on her computer and doesn't do a backup... ever! I have a spare enclosure, so if I were to get the disk I would put it in my enclosure and use it to set up a backup system for Sharon. I'd hate to see her lose all her photos.

I would love a new hard drive! I'm running on an old 120 gb one full of music and hoping it won't die before I have enough money to buy a new one.

I would add this to my HP Mediavault to double the existing 500GB, which is used as a central server for all of our family files.

I have a 250 gig drive that is rapidly filling up. Aside from a few games and a lot of music, I'm studying to become a 3D animator and the renders and associated files tend to take up a lot of space. I'm going to be upgrading my computer to Windows 7 soon and since I would need to wipe the drive anyways, (going from 32 bit to 64) it would be easier for me to just replace it with a drive that will last me a bit longer than the current one.

I can always use more storage for photos and audio books... Currently have a 120 gb hard disk...

I'd add this drive to my HP MediaSmart EX470 Windows Home Server. I currently have 2 500GB HDD's in it, but they are filling up fast as I archive my DVD collection and prepare to begin adding Blu-ray titles in the near future.

I currently have a 250 GB drive, which is nearly full. If I won this drive, I'd probably put it in an enclosure and use it for backups, as well as to archive files that I don't need to use that frequently.

I have an 80GB drive in my desktop so (a little extra) storage space would be very welcome :)

I would put this drive into a portable enclosure and use it as a backup to my existing machine. You never know when a HD will fail. :~)

I need an external drive desperately - as a media extension to a number of things.

I've finally built my WHS, but it's still a single drive machine. Would use it to have shares duplication or as an external backup.

I currently have no actual desktop PC of my own at the moment. I am a computer science student, and for my school, we are leased laptops. But, every year we have to bring our computers back to IT to get them reimaged (mandatory) and to have new software installed. As anyone can tell you, moving over 70 Gbs of media via a 4 gb flash drive onto another computer AND BACK, is a hugggge pain. And remember, I have to do this every year (twice; once to back up, and one to restore).

I have been contemplating buying a large HDD and putting it into an enclosure for transfer and storage. PLEASE pick me! I will put it to good use! =)

I currently have a 120 gig hard drive that is full of pictures and media. If I won I would use this hard drive as an external hard drive using on of these:

I will put the drive in an enclosure (to be used with my notebook) because I don't have a desktop at the moment.

I am running an 80gb HDD and it is packed. A 500gb drive would replace it.

I just had my boot drive crash. It was a 250 GB Seagate hard drive. If I win a new drive, it will go into my case as the new boot drive. I have backup drives already. Just ordered a new case (with better airflow) and a 500w psu. So it will have a nice home! ;)

I will use it for replacing my 2 80gig drives. Which is too small for anything these days anyways

Hi. If I won one of the available drives, i'd use it to get a working HD casing to fix my external 750GB drive that's broken. It was dropped (by a family member) and hasn't worked since and after opening it up, I noticed that the needle inside the drive wasn't working as it should...so I know I need a new case (or at least one that works). I had some data on the discs inside the drive and so would like to get them back by doing the replacement of the disks into the case of the 500GB drive. :-)

Would replace my 250GB drive (with XP loaded), thus pairing the "new" drive with the 160GB one that Vista is running from.

Would then take the 250 drive and move it over to my wife's machine, in place of her secondary drive (something like 100 or 120GB) - which happens to be an "older" IDE drive and thus could go into the Family Room system (a 1GHz PIII: too old for SATA....).

I am currently running on a 500gb HD in my home desktop.
If I win this drive, I will be using it as a photo and digital music backup hard drive

Perhaps persistence pays? My tired desktop HDD finally DID fail during this contest. I now need a new drive to get my file server back on line. This one would sure come in handy, Jason!

I'd use it for a 2nd hard drive, as I'm running out of space on the one I've got.

Thanks
