I was listening to my Zune at the gym the other day, I had already downloaded the 4.0 player. When I got back home I noticed that their was an optional firmware update available, the 3.2 update. I attempted to install it and a message popped up telling me it would take up to five minutes, I thought to myself it will probably take less time because I have a decent PC. Well about an hour latter it was still in stage 3 of 4, so I decided to close the Media player, I didn't see any other option. When I did this my Zune quit working all together, and Zune customer support wants me to pay for it to have it repaired or replaced. I know this has happened to a lot of people, has anyone found a solution?

Sorry to hear of your problem. The 3.2 firmware also failed on one of my Zunes, and I did the same as you.. But mine worked after I restarted it. When the Zune first came out I had nothing but problems with the Zune software and found the support people I spoke with were not only defensive but also lacking in basic PC knowledge. I think I trained several of them in my many phone calls. Have you checked the Zune forums for info on reinstalling/reformatting?

My Zune80 started acting strange after I installed the firmware update as well. First it would get stuck on a track and not progress to the next one. Rebooting it didn't seem to clear this up.

Not the dPad is not working at all. Of course that means not more rebooting. It currently stuck waiting a few days for the battery to drain to see if that clears it up.
