I don't know why this would make news on Engadget when the Zune team has consistently been saying that both the Zune software and hardware would launch the same day. I've heard it plenty of times on the Zune Insider podcast and other team interviews...

I'm not even sure why it's news as we don't know anything about the new software. I'd love to know what's changed, but will be waiting another two weeks to just see it at this point (plus a couple of hours for the link to actually appear and work). :)

If there are any details that can be shared, that would be great.

On the topic of the release date, I forgot to ask that if anyone knew if Amazon.com planned on shipping Zune HD pre-order units to have them delivered on Sept. 15? I know they do that with some of the big product launches, but wasn't sure/haven't heard about the Zune HD's plans. Would appreciate any knowledge on the subject.
