I have the black version of this drive, and it's fantastic. I've even used it with a desktop computer when I've needed to do direct CD to CD duplication.</p>

I second the recommendation for this drive. I've got the same one Jason does (on his recommendation) and it is great. Also nice to have a backup for working on those pesky machines where the optical drive fails.

Yes, it really is worth the hassle :) This would have increased the price of my netbook purchase by 10%!

You're viewing it as something you'd only ever use for your netbook - it comes in handy in other ways, so it's a computing accessory that any self-respecting geek should have, not just a netbook accessory. :D
