<p>Going back a few years, the various Thoughts Media sites that were around had a bit more of a personal touch to them - I'd commonly post on things that were going on in my life. As the sites grew and got to be more news-focused, I haven't done many of those personal posts lately. I'll hope you'll indulge me, because today something very special happened: my son was born.</p><p><img src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com/resizer/thumbs/size/600/ppct/auto/1250539970.usr1.jpg" style="border: 1px solid #d2d2bb;" /></p><p><img src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com/resizer/thumbs/size/600/ppct/auto/1250466532.usr1.jpg" style="border: 1px solid #d2d2bb;" /></p><p>At 7:20 AM on August the 16th, Logan Robert Dunn came into this world via C-Section. Both mother and baby are doing well. He's 20 inches long, weighs 7 pounds 9 ounces, and was born at the Calgary Foothills hospital. The staff here are great - special thanks to Dr. Paul Martyn for the great job he did on the surgery. This is a wonderful blessing, and I'm humbled and awed that God would give us such a beautiful baby to care for and raise. Now, is it my imagination or is that a little Bluetooth headset I see peeking out from under his cap? It's never too early to get connected!

Just kidding... he'll have plenty of time for that... after all, his first birthday is a whole year away! ;)

Seriously, though, you have some very exciting times ahead of you... enjoy them to their fullest!

Congratulations Jason! You have to look for newborn size scottvest, I suppose! Remember back to sleep slogan for Logan. No co-sleeping on the same bed, but may keep the crib in the same room, if need be. I am sure his pediatrician would go over all that.

Yay! Another Canadian to add to our army! MWAHAHAHAH!!

5 years ago when my son was born it was one of the most scariest and happiest days of my life. Now as we play together, learn to ride his bike, fish, chat and geek out, i can see that he is a little man, and how much I love him.

Wait till you have that day and realize that he is a little man. it's a very cool feeling.

That's great news Jason!

My wife is due Aug. 25!!! We were hoping our baby would come yesterday. We are very excited and my wife is definitely ready - though the pregnancy is going well. This will be our first child.

Congratulations Jason, it's a thrilling ride from here on in. I've done it four times now, and being a Dad is simply the best job in the world. Bar none.

Earlier this year we welcomed our first... Grandchild(!) :eek:
Has reminded us of how much JOY, and how much WORK, is involved with a baby.

Very happy for you, Jason! My wife and I are expecting our second in March and can't wait to experience the newborn stage again [sarcasm]. Truly, there's nothing like being a dad, at least once you get to the point that you feel like a dad instead of a zombie slave. Best of luck!

Which reminds me -- before the twins came along, my wife and I used to get up to Calgary once in a while. I'll have to get the kids up there and take them to the zoo!

I just want to echo everyone else's congratulations and well wishes. Truly a blessing from God. I have 3 daughters and a son keeping me busy. I have never felt God's love more than when I have held my new born children in my arms.

First off, thanks to everyone for the warm words and wishes - we're on day two now and everything is going perfectly. Hopefully mom and baby will be allowed to come home tomorrow, where they can both get some sleep. It's amazing to me that people don't realize cell phone microphones are sensitive enough that you don't need to YELL into them. I need to get my wife home so she can be in a quiet place to get some rest. Logan is alert, healthy and feeding regularly, so it's all good.

"Upgrade Saturdays" will have to wait now :D

Haha...maybe until he's old enough to help me. :D

Yeah, those will come eventually. :D They're pretty low on my priority list though - my obsession with technology is a distant second to my amazement at this tiny human my wife and I were blessed with. :)

Yeah, that's the thing that I appreciate about my job: since my business is being a professional geek, when my friends have said "Buy your gadgets now, you can't buy them after the baby comes!" they just don't realize what a sweet job I have. :D

I'm so excited for that day - I've heard other dads describe the same thing, and my heart swells at the thought of that day coming. I'm going to cherish the time I have with him now as a baby, but I can't wait for the day when he and I can have talks as father and son.

Indeed, that pretty much nails it - I always smiled and nodded, looking forward to that feeling, but it's not something that you can really understand until it happens. I now understand how wonderful a feeling it is. :)

That was something that more than one person suggested when I announced that we were expecting back in December. It's a neat idea, though I don't feel like I have excess capacity for work right now so I'd probably want to find someone else to run it as an Executive Editor and I'd just contribute now and then. :cool:

Well, we're planning on having two. One never knows though. As for being "Dunn", I was planning on announcing his name first name as either "Over" or "Under", but kind of forgot. :D:D:D

Yes, thankfully both sets of grandparents live in the same city as us, one set only 15 minutes away, and we also have two uncles and three aunties for Logan in the same city - so lots of support in helping us raise him.

Indeed, a zoo trip with kids is quite the experience from what I've heard - I'm looking forward to taking Logan there when he's old enough to understand what he's seeing. :)

Cherish every moment you have with him, because they grow up so fast. My daughter's 5 this year and a bundle of joy, but I'm already missing that incredible feeling when she comes up to me and asks to be carried. That unconditional love and trust is worth every sacrifice.

Absolutely - I've heard that many times before, and believe it. The older I get the faster I perceive time moving, so I'm taking lots of videos and pictures and am vowing to try to always put him ahead of "stuff" that I'm doing. He's so cute, I don't think that will be hard. :D

Congratulations. Your pictures reminded me on the birth of my 3 children, the oldest of which is now 22. You are truely blessed and I wish you and your wife all the patience and fortitude that go along with the joys and pains of raising children. God Bless your family

I assume the pictures were taken with a Pocket PC camera so its all good. Its a good example of how a great device can be integrated into ones personal life right?

I did have my Windows Mobile smartphone with me the whole time, but they all have horrible quality cameras on them, so I used real cameras to take the photos: a Nikon D300, and a Panasonic ZS3.
