Very simple for me: it's the only UNIX with a reasonable frontend graphical interface. ;)

OS X initially with the elegant hardware snagging me later on. I had reached a point where I was tired of config files and driver issues. I wanted something that "just works" out of the box and Macs have handled that beautifully.

Started with wanting a personal machine for surfing, music, photos, and videos but tired of dealing with anti-virus, constant patches and updates, bloatware, and a computer that runs a little slower every day until the fast machine I once had just crawls.

But now I also want to try my hand at some iPhone programming and there's only 1 platform to do that on.
