The Samson Zoom Q3: Superior Audio, but VGA Video?

The Q3 Handy Video Recorder brings our renowned audio technology to the camcorder, making it the best sounding video camcorder you've ever heard."</em></p><p><img src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com/resizer/thumbs/size/600/dht/auto/1248134961.usr10.jpg" style="border: 0;" /></p><p>I'm a bit confused by this product.&nbsp; I certainly see the need for improved sound quality on flash camcorders.&nbsp; I really like my Flip camera, but it doesn't have great sound pickup.&nbsp; Putting a pro-level microphone seems like a way to make a super compact professional tool, but in this case, they limited the video quality to 640x480, which I think will limit the usefulness of this product in the professional realm.</p>

You nailed it - this camera might have made sense in 2007, but now that HD is on every new minicam like these, coming out with a VGA camera makes no sense whatsoever. I do like the idea that the sound quality is improved, but the video matters even more...

Zoom makes two great portable recorders with the H2 and the H4n... not sure why they're straying out with this. I'm sure the sound is good, but the video on these things are crap anyway, so it's a bit of a mismatch.
