I've been messing around with it for a month or so, and like it for the most part. The biggest change from the beta is that the tabs on top are now gone, Apple opted for the original look and placed the tabs under the bookmarks bar. Another change is that if a crash happens because of a plug-in like Flash, only that section of the page will cease to function. They have also brought back the "stop" button, which I missed in the beta version. I'm going to download this later today to see how it performs, anyone else going to give this new version a try?&nbsp;</p>

Actually, I believe that this is only the case in Snow Leopard, when it comes out.

Ah you are right, based on the way the 64-bit works I guess

Funny, I found the exact opposite. The beta lagged at times, the final release is flying!

How would you all rate this version from a security standpoint vs. say IE8 or Firefox 3? I really like the UI on Safari and I really like how they ported over the Top Sites ala iTunes, but I do a lot of mobile banking and credit card transactions over the net and don't want to open myself up to something funky.

In my honest opinion, if I were on Windows I would probably use Safari with a utility like Sanboxie (http://www.sandboxie.com/). Based on past history, Mozilla has been the fastest to respond to security issues and patch Firefox, while Microsoft and Apple tend to lag behind with IE and Safari updates. Now, if all you are going to do is mobile banking on sites with SSL, and you are certain that your system is clean, you'll be all set with Safari, as you will be with any browser. However, given all of the security issues that these browsers face, and knowing that Apple is going to pay more attention to patching security issues on OS X before the Windows version, I'd probably be careful about depending on Safari if you are concerned about security.

But I really think that Sandboxie is a great solution - it will prevent any security issues from penetrating the sandbox and keep your system from being compromised while you evaluate Safari.

As of tonight, Safari is up to 4.0.1 on OS X. It fixes some sort of compatibility issue with iPhoto.
