According to a new report from ChangeWave, customers are still leaving their current cell carrier to flock to AT&amp;T's network just to purchase an iPhone. According to this report, within the next 6 months 13% of the people polled are looking to bail out on their current carrier and 33% of those people said they will be headed to AT&amp;T for an iPhone. These numbers are the highest since this question was first asked back in 2005. As for AT&amp;T's competition, namely Verizon, 24% will be going in that direction.""</em></p><p><img src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com//at/auto/1243425330.usr18053.gif" style="border: 1px solid #d2d2bb;" /></p><p>I think the knocks on AT&amp;T are highly overrated.&nbsp; Are there places where it isn't the best carrier?&nbsp; Of course.&nbsp; Just like every other carrier.&nbsp; In fact in some places (namely my neighborhood) AT&amp;T slaughters any other carrier's coverage and it isn't even close.&nbsp; Once you take the mystique out of Verizon's network (particularly that it's utterly bullet-proof) and the closed nature of its technology of choice (not seeing a whole bunch of unlocked CDMA phones out there, are you?) it's no wonder the tide has turned.</p><p>Oh yeah...&nbsp; And the iPhone is still a big draw.&nbsp; Almost forgot that part!</p>

I have no more affinity for AT&T than I do for any other large, soulless oligopoly. But I do like my iPhone. I've looked at other carriers in the past when our AT&T contract came up for renewal, and to be honest, none of them ever stood out well enough to be worth the trouble of switching. I have a decent corporate discount on AT&T which provides incentive to stay.

We've had a lot of problems on my wife's line throughout our time on AT&T, but as far as I know, none of them have affected mine. I used to say we'd leave AT&T if the problems continued, but since getting my iPhone I've stopped saying that.

To be honest, even though I've spent tons of time on the phone with AT&T over my wife's problems (like, I should get a consultant fee and an invitation to their Christmas party for all the time I've been on the phone with them) they've always been quick and responsive. I can't fault that.
