I thnk I've figured it all out. MS is not preparing Zune Phone hardware.
But what they will do is release a high-end media device a la iPod Touch.

Then release the platform (with phone support) out to ODMs.

It may all be based on Windows Mobile, or the Zune platform will be able to be installed on Windows Mobile devices.

Problem solved! And you heard it here first.

Of course if I'm wrong, I disavow all knowledge of the existence of this post. :D

Well, Jason's got the most inside info of any of us, but I'm not sure even he knows whats coming. And even if he did, he's under an NDA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-disclosure_agreement), which means he's not allowed to talk about anything he knows. It's surprising that the Zune marketing guys haven't made an official statement on this (even a non-denial denial along the lines of "we don't comment on rumor and speculation" would at least be acknowledging something). At this point I feel like we're being left to dry until they decide to announce it officially.

When I'm allowed to talk, I can say with a fair amount of confidence that you'll find the most accurate, in-depth Zune HD content right here. But until then, unfortunately I can't say much about the rumours.

Zune HD runs on WinCE, comes with OLED touch screen, HD video *and* HD radio, and Zune video service will replace Video Marketplace on XBOX 360.

I assume by now you guys have read the introductory paragraph on the Zune HD post I did last night? There was a press embargo, a site in the UK broke it, and everything turned to crap. Not a lot I could do about that. :( I did the best I could.
