I've not had any problems, but then again, I use Wi-Fi only sparingly, and even when I do, it's never for an extended period. Also, I've updated to the 3.0 beta firmware, so I might have dodged a bullet there. If you have been having issues, and were hoping for a quick software fix, it looks like you may be out of luck."</em></p><p><em><img src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com/resizer/thumbs/size/600/at/auto/1239339862.usr105634.jpg" /></em></p><p>I updated and this is the first I've read about it. I use the Wi-Fi connection at work and at home and haven't had one problem, neither have the other iPhone users in my family. So at least you know of 3 users that are good to go! All kidding aside, there are some <a href="http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1892636&amp;tstart=0" target="_blank">posts</a> in the Apple forum about the issue and some users have said they were told to bring the iPhone in for full replacement. Apple hasn't officially come out with anything on this however. The issue is affecting 2G and older 3G models, as well as some iPod Touch models. Speculation is that it is related to overheating with the Wi-Fi chip.&nbsp;</p>

I had a 1st gen iPod Touch, and I just got a 3G iPhone this week. Both are running 2.2.1, and I don't think I've had a problem. I did notice yesterday that I was in a place with known good wi-fi but I was on a 3G connection. I figured the wi-fi dropped offline. I'll have to pay more attention next time I'm there. I haven't had a problem with wi-fi at home yet.

We've got 2 1st gen iPhones and 1 3G which were all updated to 2.2.1 the day it was released and we haven't seen any issues. They use WiFi at home (which is also work), so they're on WiFi 99% of the time and EDGE\3G 1% of the time.

Haven't had the problem myself...
