The Mini 2140 has a similarly spec&rsquo;d webcam, but it delivers a dramatically better image than the one found in the Mini 1000. The Mini 1000&rsquo;s webcam has a dark filter in front of it that doesn&rsquo;t let enough light through."</em></p><p><img src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com/resizer/thumbs/size/600/dht/auto/1234746559.usr10.jpg" style="border: 1px solid #d2d2bb;" /></p><p>If the only difference between the 1000 and 2140 cameras is the filter, then it is pretty obvious that the filter makes a huge difference.&nbsp; However, I'm curious if HP actually included a better quality, if similarly spec'd camera in the 2140.</p><p>&nbsp;</p>

Possibly but to my old eyes, the updated one seems to handle low light conditions better resulting in less noise.

I'm not sure if there's any different in the sensor - there might be - but the real issue is the covering over the sensor. It's some sort of lens. The camera on my Mini 1000 is even worse. It's the worst thing about the Mini 1000; on the other hand, I use a Webcam about once every two years...so I don't care that much.
