Snell has spent his professional career as a writer covering Apple and, despite the presumed objectivity of his position as the editor of one of the larger, more recognizable mainstream media brands associated with the Cupertino computer maker, likely wouldn&rsquo;t give up on such a major piece of Apple hardware unless he felt it was poorly executed."</em></p><p><img src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com/resizer/thumbs/size/600/at/auto/1234272346.usr18053.jpg" /></p><p>I'm not commenting on this.&nbsp; I still think that the criticisms of the glossies are way overreaching, but I figured I'd post this just to prove that I don't only post stuff I agree with.&nbsp; Incidentally, I have seen the 24" Cinema Display at the Apple Store, where the glare is pretty unbearable on all of the glossy displays, and the Cinema Display is no better or worse than any of them.&nbsp; Then again, I've heard since I got my MBP that I would hate the glare on that one, too, and I find it completely tolerable.</p><p>I'm Vincent Ferrari, and I like glossy displays.</p>

I'm with you. When I bought my MacBook I was shocked at how beautiful this screen was.

That said, if you don't like it, I'd suggest not spending what Apple charges for the Cinema Display. It had better be extra beautiful at the price they charge. However, as for the editorial comment you quoted - o, brother.

This whole glossiness hatred is BS. Come on people, get a life. I love my macbook pro and imac with this screen. The rich contrast and colors are great and better than a matte screen. I'm a photographer too so I hear all the negative comments about glossy screens being horrible. Not sure why there is so much hatred and negativity for this topic. Crazy.

I never liked glossy displays and I will never will...especially the ones that are a mirror...Apple should start listening to the disappointed customers and offer us options...I don't want a glass in front of my screen...When I need a mirror I go to the bathroom and I can look my self in it. I don't want such an expensive mirror.
Glossy isn't that bad.It offer great colors and contrast but when you add a glass in front of a glossy screen you just ruin everything...

I can see that some people wouldn't like the reflection but I've learned that you eventually look past it to the point you don't notice it anymore. In fact on both my MacBook and 24" LED display the only time I do notice it is around the black frame.

They used to offer options, but began reducing them as of late. I'm guessing the glossy sales dwarfed the matte ones, so in some sense, customers "spoke".

FWIW, I love my 24" iMac with its glossy display. I'm looking forward to replacing my matte MBP with a glossy one in the future.

I have a window on my left while I use my iMac and it doesn't bother me. I don't notice any reflections at all, you do end up looking past the reflections. Maybe not everyone gets to that point which is understandable. Behind me is my work desk with the macbook pro and the window never bothers me.
