I want to find out which word documents stored in my WM handheld contain a particular phrase. I have about 30 word documents there. It seems that WM cannot perform an universial search.:( 'FindWiz' is a software which can perform that kind of search on Palm handhelds. Would anyone please recommend a software or softwares which can do the job on WM machines. Thanks in advance.:)

What version of WM are you using?
Am running WM2003SE on my Axim, and it includes a FIND application that will search a wide variety of files stored on the pda - including "All Data," or particular file types including "Notes," "Messaging," and "Pocket Word."
Although not particularly fast, it gets the job done.
........
Just checked: on my Fuze, running WM6.1 Professional, the equivalent app is called "Search," and offers a similar (or identical?) list of file types. Searching on the Fuze is much faster - but then only have a couple of sample Word docs loaded on it.
.........
Notes:
Open the "Advanced" search tab: on my Axim it was checked to only look for documents created within the last 3 days, which severely limited the search results (to Zero.....), until I removed that restriction.
Obviously don't know your application, but if you tend to do a lot of searching you might consider trying PhatNotes Professional (which gives you both a PPC and a Desktop version of the app). You could bring your current documents into PhatNotes & then simply create new ones within PhatNotes instead of using Word Mobile.
Probably silly ?, but did you simply COPY Desktop Word documents to your handheld, or did you move them via ActiveSync (and thus convert them to Mobile Word format)? Have not tried it, but expect it is possible that the WM "Find" (or "Search") function might not be able to search Desktop Word files.
Perhaps someone else here will know more about that....

Actually "Search" on a recent WM device should be able to find a phrase in an Office document, as well as in PIM items, contacts, calendar, etc. I do recall some issues as the doc formats transitioned to full Office versions, rather than the older Pocket Word (.pwd), etc. and then to the 2007 docx formats.
A very good find feature is included in Resco Explorer. This is a very full featured file explorer replacement, with most of the features find in a desktop file explorer. Worth the price IMHO.
They offer a trial, so you can see if it meets your needs.

Thanks Rkistler and Sven. I have asked Resco Explorer and got the reply that its universial search function does not always work on word documents but it works on plain text files. Any other suggestions?

Yea, download a trial and try it. But it works better than their support might think.
