The hard drive has to be suffering from MOSPD or Multiple OS Personality Disorder. If XP, Vista and OS X weren't enough stress for the 80 GB drive, wiping it this morning to play with Windows 7 likely put it over the top. Can anyone recommend a specialist? For the Wind, not me... I'm clearly beyond saving at this point... Like LAPTOP Magazine, I like what I see so far. The new Network Manager is indeed a more simplified and improved method of managing connectivity. On the Wind with 1GB of RAM (I removed the extra gig for now) I'm getting the same Windows Experience Index that LAPTOP sees on their Asus Eee PC 1000H: a 2.3, which is the lowest score and is for the Aero graphics. Ironically, Windows Update found a newer driver for the Intel graphics and after installing that just now, the same score dropped to 2.0. Hey, it's a test build..."</em></p><p>I think this bodes well for the performance of Windows 7. If a single core Atom is able to run it, my quad-core desktop should have no problems with it whatsoever. If your interest is piqued, there is additional covered, including screen shots, <a href="http://blog.laptopmag.com/eee-pc-1000h-runs-windows-7-well">over at Laptop Magazine</a>.</p><p> </p>

How does one get in on this Windows Mobile 7 business? It would be interesting to triple boot ubuntu, XP and 7 on my 1.5ghz Athlon XP.

To be clear, it's not Windows Mobile 7 - it's Windows 7, the desktop/laptop OS that will come after Vista. It's in private beta right now...when there's a public beta, we'll let you know. :)

Thank you for pointing that out, but I did intend to just say "Windows 7". I'm so used to saying "Windows Mobile 7" that it is easy to accidentally include "Mobile".

I like how they are bringing the names together. Windows 7/Windows Mobile 7 probably makes more sense to the average user than Windows 95/Windows NT 4 or Windows Vista/Windows Mobile 6.1 does.
Windows 7 isn't exciting me too much yet, but i am highly anticipating Windows Mobile 7.

I'm really elated by this type of news. When I got my Mini 9 recently I did it without any thought in my mind that I'd be upgrading to another OS. Yet it appears that I will be able to run Windows 7 on both my desktop AND my Mini 9 and run it well. I'm amazed and excited by this. I love Vista on my current desktop and while I am very happy with XP on my Mini 9, I would definitely prefer to run the same OS across all of my PCs.
Exciting time for Windows!
