According to a <a href="http://blog.bigzaphod.org/2008/11/03/email-steve-jobs-apple-calls-back/">blog post</a> by an Apple fan, he had sent an e-mail to Steve Jobs over issues he was having with the new hardware. He then received a call from an Apple representative shortly after sending the message, who said that Apple was currently "looking into the complaints, but has no immediate resolution."</em></p><p><img src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com/resizer/thumbs/size/600/dht/auto/1224022879.usr18053.jpg" border="1" /></p><p>I'm just putting the finishing touches on my review of the new MacBook Pro, and honestly I haven't bumped into this precise issue. I have had my share of fidgitiness (is that even a word?) with the tracking, but the clicking seems to be working fine. The good news, of course, is that Apple seems to have gotten enough complaints that they're actually looking into it. I'm wondering though; if you've already gotten yours, are you having issues with the trackpad clicking or any other issues with the new glass trackpad? I'm interested to know how widespread this actually is.</p>

As always, Rev. A products do have specific quality issues. I am sure Apple will sort it out eventually...
Having said that I have to say I don't like the new Apple mirrors...

Based on what I had heard, I thought the glass screen would be much worse, but I'm okay with it. Guess it just works for my lighting situation

The problem is that when you have a laptop you can't always control the lightning! Having a glossy display isn't that bad, but having the glass surface on top of it is just not ergonomic. It makes working on the laptop almost impossible. It looks really impressive but I cannot use it...

I love my new MacBook. I opted for a glossy screen on the last generation MBP and so was very happy the new ones came with it anyway. I also really love the new glass trackpad - EXCEPT when it doesn't register taps.
I believe the issue is the gestures. It really seems to not take a click only when I have a couple fingers on the trackpad. But I plan to get it fixed.

Based on what I had heard, I thought the glass screen would be much worse, but I'm okay with it. Guess it just works for my lighting situation  Part of the reason is that glossy screens have evolved and are somewhat more glare-resistant than the original glossy screens. I thought I'd never want a glossy screen, but after I got my iMac I was hooked. The contrast is great.
Anyway, almost every rev. 1 of Apple products have issues. They've generally gotten better as of late, but Apple's generally aggressive with adopting new technologies, and runs into trouble as a result.

Had my new MBP for about a week...my only issue is that you have to press fairly hard on the pad to click. So I set the trackpad settings to register a simple tap to click and I'm loving it...
I got the new MacBook shortly after its release and in general love it. The track pad is a bit finicky as you say :) I haven't had any problems clicking...just some times it stops tracking for a second...a simple click will fix it.

That's exactly the problem I'm having and it's DRIVING ME FRIGGING CRAZY!

Ditto with my MacBook. My only issue with clicks is I have a tendency to rest my finger too close to the lower right hand corner resulting in secondary click

I just got my MBP last night after we returned from vacation.
First thoughts: Very WELL put together, fit and finish surpasses my expectations; the screen, glossy and all... is beautiful, i have no issue with glossy screens; the screen size... large, I am so used to 13 inches, I wonder if I will miss that; the track pad is very loud when clicking - that is the only thing I don't like.
I will add more later.

I am using invisibleShield's total protection package for the Late 2008 MBPs and even though you would think that this would make the trackpad less "touchable", it actually continues to work fine for me.
Granted, I find it a tad hard to rotate a picture in iPhoto, but other than that, everything works as expected.

Apple just released a fix for the trackpads of the Late 2008 MBs and MBPs.
Can't say it changed anything for me, seeing how it worked before, but its good to know that somebody is listening :)

Apple posted a System Update apparently designed to fix the clicking problem.
