<p>Here are the specifications for the HP Mini 1000. Look for my summary tomorrow morning/afternoon of a conference call I attended on Monday. This is one netbook I'm quite excited about!</p><p><strong>Operating System Options:</strong> Genuine Microsoft&reg; Windows&reg; XP Home Basic Service Pack 3 for ULCPC Program, or Mobile Internet Experience (MIE) built on Linux (Ubuntu).</p><p><strong>Processor:</strong> Intel Atom N270 Processor (1.6 GHz)</p><p><strong>Chipset:</strong> Intel 945GSE + ICH7M, 533MHz FSB</p><p><strong>Memory:</strong> DDR2 SDRAM, 533MHz, one DIMM slot. Do they provide the windows drivers so you can install it on the Linux boxes on your own, like Asus does? Might be a way around the 1GB limit.

OK, this is really strange - there's no trace of those bizarre characters in our CMS, yet when the post gets published to vBulletin, I get that funky stuff. :confused:

Unknown. But yes, putting your own copy of Windows on it would be a way to get around the 1 GB limit.
