View Full Version : Why no non-qwerty World Phones?

Between HTC, Sony Ericson, Samsung, et al I'm noticing a trend. For some reason they all, especially HTC, seem pressed on leaving the US out of their initial Pocket PC pro releases. What gives?

This is especially those without any kind of hardware keyboards. I remember reading awhile ago (don't remember where) that AT&T stated that they would no longer carry Windows Mobile Pro devices without keyboards. If my memory is incorrect then I'm open to that. But if you look at what they pickup (Touch Pro anyone?) it seems to reflect that.

This is obviously not wanting to cannibalize their deal with Apple. They're probably raking in a mint with the exclusivity.

I find it highly unlikely that AT&T will actually pickup the Omnia. The Xperia is more likely since it has a keyboard.

I guess I'm just ranting see as how a year ago (or was it longer) that I could easily import a true 3G world phone. Perhaps it comes down to controlling support channels.

Anyway... it sucks. If I'm going to pay $700+ I should be able to travel with and all of its features. Including 3G.

Whine -- off
