It's really cool to see Microsoft continuing to move their Photo Gallery product ahead.

From the privacy standpoint, I'm wondering if it will only tag people you have previously identified in your gallery or whether it will be able to tag people in the background who might have already been identified in other photos.

You mean some sort of server-side pool of recognized people? Nah, I'm pretty sure this is all local, meaning you'd have to have identified them first in order for this to work. A server-side database of faces would be a bit nightmareish. :eek:
