It's got a very modern, elegant slate design in this year's hot finish: gloss black. What's not to like? Sure, it's not made by HTC, the largest ODM of Windows Mobile Pro devices, so you don't get that Toyota-like assurance (everyone's got one and they like it just fine, thank you). But if you hanker for something different from the crowd, something cooler looking than the HTC Touch Cruise, it's worth a look."</p><p><img src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com/resizer/thumbs/size/600/spt/auto/1215485600.usr12.jpg" border="1" alt="" /></p><p>It's a shame that Toshiba no longer sells in the US, because this looks like a halfway decent device, with a 3MP camera, to boot.&nbsp; MTR gives it a thorough review, and despite some niggles, Lisa likes the unit overall.&nbsp; Hit the link for a typically in-depth article.</p>

Has anyone had positive support experiences with Toshiba? I had a E830 and their support was really bad. I don't think I could ever buy a Toshiba Pocket PC again.

Is anyone from Toshiba reading this? Can you comment on any changes that would suggest you will support this new device?

As a North American (Canadian) Toshiba user (e830 - still running quite nicely and I'm typing this on it now with a rubber USB keyboard, my 'desktop' computer... my WM6 Atom is my 'pocket' PC these days) I wouldn't really expect much in the way of support. It'd be nice I suppose, but I bought mine new from a German seller via eBay for about half retail price, so again, not really expecting support even when new.

The device has had its problems, especially with a flakey solder connection in button lock slider area. Eventually had to take the thing apart and solder it properly myself, and chose to just lock it into the unlocked position to save having to do it again. Buttons worked again, so I'm happy. With dual slots (now use an SD>CF adapter with a 4GB SD, and another 4GB SD in the actual SD slot) and native Wi-Fi being pretty solid, there's really not a lot more I could want from a PPC. The screen is awesome, media playback is great, USB functionality (thanks to RATOC's v2.0 USB driver set) is amazing, battery life doesn't suck too bad... but then again, I just usually leave this one on the desk and plugged in. A fine old device, one I hope will keep on working for years to come.

As for this 810... I'd say it's a pretty nice little phone, but having used a 2.8" QVGA screen for about 8 months now the 2.83" screen of this model doesn't impress at all. The 128MB of RAM is very tempting - at last, perhaps a phone where one can have a half-dozen applications open at once! - and the screen certainly seems to fare well in daylight, but it's a small screen and that's just not very satisfying. At least not enough for me to consider moving to this for a next phone.
