<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.winplay.com/game/GuitarHeroMobile' target='_blank'>http://www.winplay.com/game/GuitarHeroMobile</a><br /><br /></div>It seems that this game came out earlier this month, but I don't think we posted about it - so here we go!<br /><em><br />"Guitar Hero® is now available on mobile! Rock out anytime, anywhere with this rhythm-based, three button game that stays true to the original. This is the one-time purchase version of the game. The initial game comes with 15 tracks from some of rock’s greatest acts. With the one-time purchase, you will have access to an additional three tracks issued each month...Rock out anytime, anywhere with this rhythm-based, three button game that stays true to the original. Open with 15 jamming tracks, all taken from the Guitar Hero console series."</em><br /><br /><img border="1" alt="" src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com/resizer/thumbs/size/600/dht/auto/1211495510.usr1.jpg" /><br /><br />It's pretty slick how they've integrated online connectivity into the game - the YouTube video below (after the break) shows how this works: the song is selected, then it's downloaded on-demand. I'm not sure if that means that upon install there are no songs included - that would be pretty silly because you can't always be assured of connectivity or the speed of the connection. Anyone tried this yet? I'm pleased to see the one-time price is reasonable at $14.99 USD - too often these "name brand" games are ridiculously expensive, and they blame the platform for why it doesn't sell. It's compatible with a <a href="http://www.winplay.com/game/devicelist/GuitarHeroMobile" target="_blank">large array of devices as well</a> - looks like it might be the perfect way for you to get your GH3 fix on the go! <MORE /><br /><embed width="425" height="355" wmode="transparent" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/YpnJ7rWbJ0g&hl=en"></embed>

Does anyone know if there's a trial version available? This looks pretty cool, but I always like to "try before I buy". I couldn't find anything, though.

I don't know about a trial version but we should have review of the game up early next week with video footage. :)

There are 2 songs in the memory when you install this game. It (very annoying) deletes automatically one song when you download a new one. So you'll be downloading those songs over and over again if you don't do a little hack to it.
- Download 2 songs -> copy them somewhere from the installation folder -> download 1 more -> move the copied songs back => the game has now 3 songs.
After it has 3 songs it automatically leaves all downloaded songs untouched.
Other than that, i loved the game.

That's pretty much the reason i shot that video. Since you can't try, atleast you see it.

It's even easier if you mark the all song files as read only. That way the program wont delete them. And you can ultimately have all songs ready for offline use.

No Touch on compatible devices---I'm assuming b/c the Touch lacks the hardware buttons.
What buttons does this use on Windows Mobile Professional (touchscreen) devices?

Does anyone know how to stop that annoying disconnect prompt that comes up every couple of minutes when you're downloading a song.
Suprisingly fun game, BTW.

Thanks for the tip. worked like a charm. it is a fun game, but is there a way to stop that annoying "disconnect in XX seconds" message every couple of minutes during a song download?

From what I can tell from looking at various videos of the game in action, it uses the Dpad.

It uses the D pad, or number keys if you have a keyboard (using it on my Touch Dual just fine).
I must say it's a fun game, but I can barely get past having to download each song one at a time. Since I'm on TMo, with no 3G, it's enfuriating. All the moreso with the constant disconnect prompts. They should allow you the option to download the songs to your PC. hopefully they'll figure that out.

I decided to take a risk and bought this for my non-supported device -- ETEN Glofiish M700.
Works fine -- but the graphics was choppy until I used SKTools to increase the font cache to 32768 , disabled GUI animation and upped the file system cache to 1024
Playing with the Dpad is problematic, since I keep hitting the phone key and launching the phone app. Using the slide-out keyboard's arrow keys (left, right, up) is better.
UPDATE: gameplay is still bad when I am docked via ActiveSync -- the game keeps pausing. Anyone else seeing this with your device?

Actually, this is a pretty fun game. I like the fact that you can download other songs and the idea for cutting the songs out of the folder, downloading another song, and then putting the other two back in worked great. Thanks Demens.
When purchased my activation code would not work. It took WinPlay four days to respond. I sent a fairly curt email and they responded in minutes with a working code and apology.
burtcom - do you reduce the cache after you are done with the game or does you phone work fine at that adjustment?. I have not used SKTools a lot, so just wondering.

Phone continues to work fine -- I haven't touched anything :)
