It resembles the N96 in many ways - similar form factor, 128MB RAM, 256MB ROM, 16GB of storage space, a microSD slot, A-GPS, an FM radio, DVB-H, and TV-out - but it does pack some newer and extended features such as quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and tri-band UMTS/HSDPA connectivity, 802.11n and Bluetooth 2.1 support, and a 7.1-megapixel camera featuring Carl Zeiss optics and a dual-LED flash. It also has a 2.8" 262K-colour, QVGA touch screen, fit for displaying Windows Mobile 6 Professional in all its glory. There's no denying it - the N97w has a list of specs that would make any HTC device weak at the knees. A price has yet to be announced, although expect to receive details later this afternoon. Now, who wants one?

I've just changed phones too, to a Nokia E51. Damn, will have to wait until April 1st next year now.

You had me until that auwful 2.8-inch QVGA display. What's up with manufacturers anyway. Anthing less than 3.5-inch for a converged device is just useless.

I didn't think I'd be able to handle a 2.8" screen, but I love my Mogul.

I won't buy another device that only has QVGA again though. If WM is ever going to have a browsing experience even close to what the iPhone has, They are going to have to start making VGA the standard.

This Nokia packs a lot of punch with the specs list, but The QVGA just ruins the rest of it for me. It's a shame too, because it looks great.

This was the first website and first story I read today. You had me for a few seconds before I remembered the date. I was actually thinking to myself: Finally someone releases a WM phone with a ton of internal storage, the first 802.11n radio (to not slow down your n WiFi network with a g device), and a decent camera with good optics. This might give the iPhone a run for its money (well except for the OS part and the QVGA screen). Then of course I realized what day it was. Oh well, I can still dream...

Good one. I look forward to today's other stories.

So, Nokia waits to make the switch until Microsoft dumps the operating system. Typical!

I think Nokia will do Windows Mobile one day, but not for a while longer...
