The problems were significant, such that we'd have a hard time recommending the browser to any Windows user. As of last summer, Firefox was still the Windows browser of choice here at Ars. Have things improved for Safari? Wow, have they."

ars technica puts Safari 3.1 for Windows (the first non-beta version of Apple's web browser) through the paces. I haven't had a chance to try Safari yet, but it looks like a pretty solid competitor against Firefox and Internet Explorer. Check out the review to see how Apple's browser holds up. If you've had a chance to try it, how do you like/dislike it? Could Safari one day be the king of browsers on Windows? Only time will tell...

It may be the most standards compliant browser out there, and it may be fast, but it feels totally out of place on a Windows machine. The Mac-style user interface just doesn't feel right on any flavor of Windows.

I installed it the other day and just don't know yet. I have not used an Apple computer for about a decade and a half, so it may take some time to get a hang of it.

Agreed, of course I feel the same way about IE7's interface. :D

I'd give it a longer try if it supported add-ons the way Firefox does. I use browsers from multiple PC's daily and Google Browser Sync make the transition soooo easy, I can't give that up.

Looks promising and supports the new Yahoo Mail, something I have never been able to do with Firefox even though I'm running the latest version. If only it supports plug-ins like Roboform. I haven't tried that yet, though.

Just confirmed that Roboform does not work with Safari. This is a quote from the Roboform webpage:

"Safari on Windows is not supported.
We are investigating whether integration is possible,
but so far it appears that Safari is a closed browser."

I love Safari, but don't use it on either Mac or Windows because the WYSIWYG editing boxes don't ever work right ...
