I've been eyeing this exact model of camera. I guess I'll hold of on purchasing this until after the contest in case I win.

With a new baby on the way, I thought it would be wise to update my camera with the latest that's out there so I can the best photos I can of my daughter.

I've researched this camera extensively and this seems like the best point and shoot camera out there. Many of the reviews have raved about the face detection technology. It takes great videos, which is great quality for DVD or even to upload to YouTube to show the proud grandparents and uncles/aunts.

I definitely hope I win this one! :-)

I just upgraded my home computer system to be 100% Vista compatible. I have Vista Ultimate being shipped to my house. When it arrives, I'll need a Vista-certified camera to stay at that 100% level.

I am the webmaster for a Mustang club, and I need a good quality camera to complete member profiles and to photographically record our events. What makes this deal sweeter? The camera to do that could be free!

Thanks for the contest! And to the Vista team for their donation.

I too have been looking to purchase this exact camera. I just like having a good reliable point and shoot that I can carry around to snap pictures of anything and everything.

At work, I snap photos of white board sessions and distribute them with my notes. On business trips, I like to show my family interesting things I see and do. I also like to take fun pictures of the family without having to lug around the SLR. Sure a camera phone would suffice, but I am more likely to keep and use a higher quality digital pic from a camera like the SD850.

Hope I am the lucky one!

A camera is a every day tool for me. It would be a very long list of uses I get from a camera like this.

Living in the San Francisco Bay area there is always something to take a picture of. I also seem to also be the family's vacation destination (being the only of nine kids west of the Mississippi). So the opportunity to take family pictures would be fantastic!

Great prizes Jason, very cool!!!

I love taking pictures of my kids and short videos. I have an SD450 but sometimes it's hard to get a steady shot. I'd love to utilize the image stabilizer.

I'd use this for general photos that I take of my kids, etc... All too often we need a camera to be on the ready and close-by for shots, particularly with my 19 month old daughter. Now that Canon has its instant-on technology, this camera is ready to shoot immediately upon turning it on, and that will certainly help in allowing us to capture moments that we can't always get to in time.

My Canon Digital SLR (XTi) is wonderful, but just not practical to carry around in a pocket, etc... and my Canon Powershot S50 is on its last legs I fear (plus it's slow as molasses!), plus it's slightly too large and heavy to comfortably carry in a pocket. This would be the perfect camera to replace the S50, and is actually one I've been looking at possibly purchasing in the future (or a similar one).

Here's to hoping I can win! =)

Given the size of that camera it would be ideal for me as an everyday camera especially on vacations. So I would be probably use it most for taking pictures of people/friends or scenery.

My fantasy answer would be that i'd win this camera, have enough cash to go visit and interview Judy (from Gear Diary) modeling her ScottVest, which is always out of my size or discontinuing the one i want when i try to order. Also reminds me I wouldn't look near as good in mine as she does in hers.

I would love to replace my 3.2mp Minolta. Our family has three kids and they're all involved in various activities where a parent is obligated to take a picture.

So my photos will be of wherever my kids take me...

I would probably use the camera as a basic video camera since the resolution is good enough with Image Stabilization to take to most family events.

Thank you Thoughts Media.

I take mostly family photos and some scenic shots when we are on vacation. Our 3 year old Canon is starting to wear through the batteries very quickly for some reason (even new batteries), so this would be a welcome replacement. Thanks!

My wife dropped out digital camera while attending a wedding reception. So, we have been hoping to get a new one. Having a free one would be much nicer.

I would use the camera to take pictures of our travels, friends, and also for use on web site designs. Hope to win!

I'd be taking pictures of my friends and I riding sportbikes. It might get used as an onboard video camera too. Sounds awful doesn't it? Don't worry, I treat my camera (Old Kodak Easyshare 2.0mp) with care.

Boy could I use this! I've got the original Digital Elph (2 whole mega-pixels--replaced the original APS film Elph). It's awful. Yeah, I've got my Rebel, as well, but I really need to have a P&S to take with me all the time. My daughter is about 13 months now and I miss more photo opps than I get.

Thanks!

I travel quite a bit and been looking at replacing my bulky Canon G2. My next trip is Vietnam, where some of the best beaches in the world are said to exist. It'd be great leaving the bulk behind and instead taking the Powershot along for the ride.

I carry a camera with me everywhere, and use it for all sorts of things: taking meeting notes from whiteboards, making documentation, preserving "correct" configuration for disassembly/reassembly, recording product information for repair and/or price comparison, capturing funny or artistic opportunities, candid shots of friends and family... the list goes on and on. An SD850 would replace my aging SD200 in all of these tasks and more.

Before I met my fiancée I never took pictures... excluding the passed out guy with all the writing on his face. Come on, some habits die hard no matter how old you are!

If we had a reliable camera such as this (Disposables are cheap, but not reliable IMO) I know we'd end up at some of Minnesota's State Parks taking photos of the rivers and surrounding wilderness. Heck, maybe we would even end up with one of those photos that you feel the need to frame and proudly display on your home!

Oh, can't forget our wedding in early 2009. There will be TONS of pictures of that event! :)

Looks like both of us are Nikon DSLR fans. I only wish that I had your buying power-or good grease with a Nikon rep. However, Canon has a super rep and would be my "pocket camera" for shots, 24/7. Over the past 16 years, I have both worked and lived in Wash, DC. I missed too many opportunities to have my pix taken with _____.

To date, I have worked for two Senators, two presidential campaigns and one presidency- in the executive branch. At present, I am advising Prez campaign three and have already missed several cool pix. The Canon Powershot would fill that void very well.

In order to get the remaining "surreal" pix with pols, the Powershot does it!;)

I like taking pics of nature and architecture and I'm working on getting better with portraiture. My parents are always bugging me for pictures, so having a good P&S that I can keep with me at all times will help keep them happy... and as I'm about to start my surgical residency, it will always be in my bag so I can take pics for consults, before, intraop and after photos. Being at school, there are always plenty of opportunities to take a picture. Now that spring's here, there are plenty of opportunities to get some nice shots of the landmarks and just generally attractive scenery on and around campus. Add in the fact that some buildings around here provide a remarkable view of Boston's skyline, and you've got some really amazing opportunities.
