View Full Version : Upgrade eWallet or change to Spb Wallet?

Hi Folks.

I have an old version of eWallet, 4.1.

This does not sync well with my HTC Touch Dual and Windows Vista. And it doesn't look as modern as the rest of the Touch Dual.

So I was thinking about upgrading to version 6 of eWallet (http://www.iliumsoft.com/site/ew/ewallet.php). Upgrading the desktop and PPC version will cost $20,-

But then I was looking at the Spb Wallet (http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/wallet/?en), and the price difference isn't that big, so I was wondering if anyone have tried both and have any thoughts?

What strikes me from the screenshots is that Spb Wallet's desktop client seems a bit more functional than eWallet!?

I probably use the desktop client much more than the mobile client.

I downloaded a demo of Spb Wallet and transfered my cards from eWallet.

The result was a disappointment. Just a few cards were successfully exported, most of them just got all the data stuffed in the Notes field :(

The desktop client seemed a bit better than eWallet's, but I won't bother going through my around 100 cards, so I'm sticking with eWallet.

I am right there with you,

I have been a user of <url=http: www.developerone.com="" codewalletpro="" mobile.htm="">CodeWallet</url=http:> (http://www.developerone.com/codewalletpro/mobile.htm) for a number of years and when Spb Wallet came out, I gave it a try. I thought the program was great but the import process made my existing data almost entirely useless.

FYI, Spb Wallet has a special cross-upgrade price of $16.95 - http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/wallet/special_upgrade.php?en

As always, the best advice is TRY IT OUT (there is a 15 day free trial for Spb Wallet and a 30 day one for eWallet).

Also, if you have a problems with importing some data to Spb Wallet you can simply contact support or ask question at Spb Wallet forum, almost all problems with importing can be resolved.

And while importing data in manual mode you can configure in UI how fields will be mapped from your cards to Spb Wallet Cards, this way data will be not present in Notes section.

First of all: Great to see a Spb employee answering my thread!

But I'm afraid that checking your forums, or doing a manual import of 100+ cards is just to much time-consuming. I just want something that works straight away... and sticking to eWallet give me just that.

Love what you guys are doing with the Mobile Shell though ;)

Thank you for kind words, it is a real pleasure to hear what peoples think about our software!

And let me please describe how importing works.

Importing works ok if you import data from default eWallet cards and haven't renamed any fields and so on (all default cards are pre-confiogured at Spb Wallet).

But if card is not 100% matched, you will be prompted to set how card fields will be mapped to Spb Wallet card template.
Once filled, this mapping will be saved and you'll need not to set it again for next cards of same type, so it reduce work needed a lot.

No problems with the newest version of eWallet syncing with Vista.

Thanks jadesse and manutdx! We're glad eWallet is working out so well for you!

I spoke to TopDog a little personally but two things I want to reinforce are these:

1. If you EVER have a question, concern, or problem, drop us a line. We're available by phone toll free at 888-632-5388 and you can email our support team at [email protected] . The can help with support problems but they can answer all sorts of other questions as well, which can be really helpful when making a tough decision like "which app should I use."

2. If you have ideas, concerns, compliments, or requests, tell us! Customer comments are one of the number one ways we decide what to change in eWallet. We're always happy to hear your thoughts and they really do make a difference!

Sincerely,

Marc Tassin
