How to change the annoying 'NOTIFY' sound on PocketPC

Does anyone know how to change the 'NOTIFY' sound on the PocketPC? On my phone, it's the default sound for the "Notifications (alarms, reminders)" option. I still want a sound, just a different one. I tried replacing the actual file in the Windows folder with another sound and the same name, but it is write-protected and I can't figure out how to change it. Any ideas??

I may not be understanding you completely, so please forgive me if I have missed the point, but try this:

Start>Settings>Sounds & Notifications (on the 'Personal' tab)>Notifications tab

That takes you to a page where you can select any sound you like for any of a number of events.
