The acquisition will align Danger’s nearly 10 years of expertise in the mobile consumer space with Microsoft’s vision to provide innovative and compelling mobile experiences to a growing base of customers. “Microsoft is a global leader with our Windows Mobile software and expanding mobile services,” said Robbie Bach, president of the Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft. “The addition of Danger serves as a perfect complement to our existing software and services, and also strengthens our dedication to improving mobile experiences centered around individuals and what they like.”

One wonders how MS would treat Danger's existing software in this little aqusitition. Will we start seeing Sidekicks with Windows Mobile on them? The sidekick especially interests me in the fact that it was compromised due to its heavy reliance on server storage (Something, no doubt, was to T-Mobile's request). Windows Mobile devices don't need server support to be functional, and unless you use a third party tool like Dashwire, your pictures and such stay on the device. This catering to the carrier that Danger has fostered makes me think their software will remain active and developed, and that a Sidekick with WM is unlikely. But perhaps the T-Mobile "Partner" - a WM device with a Danger-esque design?
