Apparently...The Treo 800w (from Sprint) will have a mini-USB plug on the bottom of the device for syncing and charging. It's about as thin as a Centro, and actually feels quite nice in the hand. It will ship with WinMo 6.0 and will be compatible with WinMo 6.1 once an update is released. Not a whole lot of feature upgrades, but does make it compatible with Microsoft System Center Mobile Device Manager 2008."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/Treo800wSpecs.jpg" /><br /><br />The list of rumoured features includes a hardware on/off button for the WiFi (which is now 802.11g), EvDO Rev. A radio, Bluetooth 2.0 +EDR, a microSD slot, 256 MB of memory (presumably that's Flash storage), and no headphone jack (the miniUSB jack has to be used for headphones). There's no mention of the CPU. The lack of a headphone jack is disappointing for anyone that wants to use their own 3.5mm jack headphones, unless they also want to have to carry around an adaptor to get it to work. No real details on the thickness of the Treo 800w, which is perhaps the biggest flaw with the 750w (in my opinion). I also don't see much in the way of unique or compelling features - who's going to be the first Windows Mobile OEM to offer 2 GB (or more) of Flash storage? Or a camera with a decent sensor to capture good-quality images?

Though it's easily forgotten, the XDA Flame has 2GB of flash storage.

The unique and compelling feature of the Treo 800w will hopefully be the same unique and compelling feature of the Treo 700wx and 750.

It will run fast and be easy to use.

My Treo 700wx runs circles around the Tilt and Mogul, both of which I took out for month long test drives. It may be big. It may be bulky. It may have an ugly ass stub antenna, but damnit I am sick and tired of messing around with HTC phones to get the to work right. Every single one they release requires constant tweaking and work to even run decently. The Treo smokes those two phones out of the box and it's over year old.

It's not all about the hardware. It's about the work that Palm put in to WM5 to make it work on 32MB of RAM. Hopefully they will have done the same thing with WM6.

No word on the screen res though? Rumor had it was going to be 320x320.

A complete list of the rumored specs includes the following:

- EVDO Rev A
- third party accessible GPS
- 802.11g w/ hardware on/off switch
- Bluetooth 2.0+EDR
- microSD card slot
- 320x320 screen
- ringer on/off switch
- WM6 (upgradeable to 6.1 at a later time)
- 256 ROM/128 RAM
- HTC mini-USB sync/charge/audio connector
- 2.0 MP camera (no word on flash present or not)
- thin as the Centro
- threaded SMS (along with hopefully all of Palm's other WM usability/speed/memory usage enhancements)

All this in the popular Treo form factor. Personally, I cannot wait for this device!

I REALLY hope they'll use that screen resolution, meaning compatibility with TONS of non-240*240-compliant titles. At last...

what is it with all the complaint on too thick or too big phones.
Am i the only man with man size hands?
People this is a pocket pc first and phone second. I want a decent size screen and workable buttons for my man size fingers..

If this thing is any smaller than my dinky 700wx I won't be buying!

As soon as it is out, I am getting rid of my Mogul. I just hope it does not have the Qualcomm chipset in it. Does anyone know what type of CPU is in Treo 800w?

Ah yes. That would be one of those devices I never got my hands on. ;-)

Ah, but I said thickness - I too like decently-sized screens and usable buttons, but the Treo 750w for instance was far too thick for me to carry in the front pockets of my blue jeans...my T-Mobile Dash is the standard for how thin I think devices should be. :-)

As I said this is a pocket pc first phone second. The Dash is not a pocket pc, but a smart phone. Smart phone is a phone first and PDA second, my wife carries a Samsung I600 flip smart phone because she wants a phone with calandar and contacts and to view basic email. The thickness gave us room for a standard SD card and a large 1800mah battery.

I can promise you this. The 800w will draw just as much power but from a much smaller battery, my guess 1200-1400mah tops and the card slot has shrunk to micro sd with a big loss in capacity vs SD.
