Am I chuffed. I just spent $149 on a 32GB CF card from NewEgg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211244). Along with my 4GB SD (not HC) card, my PPC now has a whopping 36GB of storage. Sure it's overkill, but I couldn't resist at that price. The best I'd seen otherwise was considerably more.

BTW, 16GB is under $70 :)

Russ, you've just managed to make me sit up and smile. Now where's my credit card...

ASUS has had a 2.5" hdd enclosure with built-in WiFi for a few years now. From what I've read they work pretty well.

I put AData's 16GB CF card in my X51v last summer and have been quite pleased with it. It has had no issues. I was thinking about saving up for their 32GB CF card, but I think I may go for a SDHC to CF adapter instead now that they are on the market. Not sure just yet. I may get the adapter anyway just to have the option regardless.

If you have a device like the Axim X51v, or the upcoming iPaq 210 that can use SDHC cards, you can get a 32 GB CF and 16 GB SD card, giving you 48 GB of storage for a total price of $220 or so. :)

Would that work though? I didn't know the x51v supported the SDHC standard.

Panasonic just announced a 32 GB SD card ... OK it's SDHC, so no good for me, but still ...

See this is why we love dual card slots on our dusty old PDAs :-)

Can't imagine why it would not. It adapts the SDHC to the CF format and protocols, and the X51 will handle CF cards as big as FAT32 will allow. Only issue I can conceive is the transfer rate won't be the greatest as the X51's bus speed on the CF slot is nothing to rave about.

You can also get SDHC support on the X51s by installing the SDHC driver CAB that's floating around, or in the case of the X51v installing one of the various custom user-made ROMs.

You know... my ENTIRE music collection is like 4gb. What would I do with that much storage?!

If I could get a Playstation emulator to work, I might start ripping all my old Playstation games to ISOs I guess. That might make a small dent in that much space, but I only have a few games!

I guess you'd fill it up with movies?

Right now ny music collection amounts to about 30 Gb - that's 300 or so CDs that I own, ripped to mp3. You have some catching up to do ;-)

I also have, among other things, a ton of Simpson's DVDs ripped so I can watch them on computer and my PDA. I think I have 9 full seasons on my 8Gb CF card, which gives me plenty to watch if I'm stuck in the airport.

I have a few movies ripped and compressed for PDA use and they are 256 Mb up to about a gig each.

So I guess the quick answer is yes, movies are what will take up most space.

Just remember Y? BIC!

(Why? Because I can!)
