Hello all,
Since getting a new desktop PC with Windows Vista, the files (.pxl, etc) on my pocket PC (Dell Axim X50v) cannot be opened on my PC when I sync my device. My handheld synchronizes with the PC OK, and all the files are updated, but cannot be opened on my desktop. I did not have any problems when I was using Windows XP and Activesync.
Can anyone please help?
Thanks in advance

I would guess that this new machine came with Office 2007 as well, right? If so, the issue is that Office 2007 Excel files are .XLSx, not XLS format. Office Mobile 6.1 will recognize the new formats so you could upgrade Office Mobile on your handheld. Or, you could simply set Excel on your desktop to write Excel 2003 format files as the default. Earlier versions of Office Mobile will recognize that format.

Thanks for this, but my new desktop is running Office 2003 (same as the old desktop). The only difference is that now I am running Visa rather than XP.

OK. It wasn't the simple answer. My next guess would be that the Excel file conversion got messed up somehow. If it does no conversion at all, Mobile Office should recognize it and read it. Same if it gets converted to Mobile Excel format on synching.
In ActiveSync, there was a whole panel devoted to what gets converted and how. I can't find the same functionality within Windows Mobile Device Center (which is the Vista equivalent of ActiveSync).
The only thing I can think of is to start your partnership over again and see if that solves the issue. That's brute force where I'd prefer a little finesse.
