I am about to pick up an ATT Tilt, aka Kaiser. I am wondering what GPS application folks are using, do they like it, and why.

I would prefer to not have to pay a monthly fee for GPS.

Thanks........

Unfortunately I still use Mapopolis. The unfortunate part is they are no longer producing the product.

For now you can start with Virtual Earth Mobile, http://www.viavirtualearth.com/vve/Gallery/VEMobile.ashx
Does need a data plan, but I expect you will be getting one with the Tilt.

Another GPS enabled app is Wndows Live Search for mobile. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/livesearch/default.mspx

Just FYI the TILT GPS is on comm 4 at 9600Bps.

I like TomTom 6 for my Mogul. (I also liked it for my Treo 700Wx, as well.)

I used ver 2 and 3, they now have a Ver 4 that is pretty revamped, but I am reading that it is having some problems.

I've used both iGuidance (by iNAV) and Co-Pilot (by ALK). Both are excellent on Windows Mobile. Co-Pilot is a little more resource intensive and a little prettier and more intuitive because of it.

Were you using Co-Pilot 6 or 7?

I was told by Co-Pilot that 6 would not work on the Tilt.

I just sent Co-Pilot 7 back after two weeks because it was terrible on my tilt.

1. Could not link to address book.
2. Could not find road but could find POI on that road.
3. Told me to go east on a divided highway when I could only go west etc...

I have Garmin Mobil XT on order and I hope is works as well as Co-Pilot 6 used to.

I use TomTom Navigator 6 with traffic beta on my Tilt, and am happy. Used iGuidance too, a strong product, but TomTom works in more global locations, is a big outfit (just bought TeleAtlas one of two digital map makers, winning out over Garmin in a huge industry changing strategic battle), and future versions of TomTom will permit correcting (the inevitable) map errors and sharing the corrections with others (and vis a versa).

I agree Microsoft Live Search (and it's map search s and traffic info) is a worthwhile free companion.

Out of curiosity, have you seen Nav4All (http://www.mobiletopsoft.com/board/2249/try-nav4all-freeware-alternative-of-fully-functional-gps-navigation-system.html)?
It looks pretty decent, especially for freeware.
