Up until now, that has only been a partial reality because I have always carted around a Bluetooth GPS in my pocket to use with my PDAPhone. Now with the new AT&amp;T Tilt (HTC Kaiser / TyTN II) and its built-in GPS hardware, this is truly a reality. This has turned out to be a big advantage not having to rely on the Bluetooth GPS, but that is not the primary purpose of this review. What I hope to do here is to review the latest version of TeleNav's navigation software and compare it to some other navigation programs that I've used."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/martin-20071010-PdaPhoneHome_TeleNav.gif" /><br /><br />Mike Collins has reviewed navigation app TeleNav on his new AT&amp;T Tilt. For those who like to own their software, be aware that TeleNav is featured as an <a href="http://www.telenav.com/products/tn/pricing.html">add-on service</a> from these cellular providers: AT&amp;T Wireless, Alltel, Rogers, SouthernLINC, Sprint-Nextel, and Verizon Wireless. Also, the software is device-specific, so be sure to <a href="http://www.telenav.com/products/tn/devices/">check for compatibility</a> with your device first before signing up. Have you used TeleNav? Do you like it or prefer another software package?

I use Telenav 5.2 with my Samsung m610 and its built-in GPS, and its beautiful. The voice directions are clear, voice is loud, it does TTS, the monthly subscription is nominal, and the GPS fix is fast.

Sometimes it does tend to take a long time to realize that I'm off route and the accuracy isn't completely solid, but its a vast improvement over having nothing at all.

Hmm. Interesting review.
So it appears other than voice prompts you can get exactly the same, if not more, features from Live Search Mobile.. for free.

Although voice prompts are necessary if you are going to use it for navigating while driving unless you have a copilot. ;)

I guess i fall into that group that will continue to dismiss this product for it's monthly fees and total lack of features compared to the "real" gps softwares.

Plus i don't know about you but there are MANY places in my travels where i have absolutely no cell signal. I would be very upset if my navigation software were to fail me out there. :D

Thanks for the link, Paul. It was nice to actually learn something about the software. I had never really heard or seen much about it.

Personally, I'm adverse to adding something else to the monthly bill list. That, and I don't usually go that many places where I don't already know where I'm going.
