HTC Shift Video Demo

Performance-wise, the Shift appears to be on par with most other mid- to high-end UMPCs, and of course, it's Aero-capable, so you can experience all the pleasures of Vista's glassy interface, albeit a meager two hours worth. Fortunately, the Shift's battery life is being looked at, so we may see some improvements on this front by the time it's released into the market.

I am pretty disappointed by htc on using a 7" screen and using only 800*480 resolution. Fujitsu U1010/U810(another brilliant UMPC) is having 5.6" screen with 1024*600 resolution. :?

I like all the specs, but I can't believe that HTC didn't backlight the keyboard - because it doesn't appear they did from the looks of that video.

That's going to be worthless in dark environments or dim lighting. And please don't tell me it's because of battery life concerns, because that's bunk. We have backlighting in our cell phones and everything else, and the power needed to backlight a bit of lettering is minute. I've also been telling laptop manufacturers to backlight their keyboards as well, and so far, only Apple and Dell have done it, but every company needs to with any device that has a keyboard, especially on a device like the Shift. The more portable a device is, the more important this feature becomes. If you can't see what you're typing, the device's worth and usefulness are reduced greatly.

Deal breaker for me. I just hope this proves to be different when it ships.

HTC has complete specs on its website. Little different than before. I wander, Can it run both Aero and MS office at the same time without slow down in performance? That is very important to me. If it can't handle multiple tasks well, no matter how quite it looks, it is just a toy, expansive one.
