I'm wondering if there are better software repositories for Windows Mobile software than PocketGear, which I find difficult to search, poorly categorized, and too full of ads. Where do you go when you're looking for WM software?

Thanks,
Oscar

Probably the best place to start your search is the nomination list for the Best Software Awards,

http://www.pocketpcmag.com/awards_2007/nominees.asp

For freewares I recommend http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php

I'll throw my site into the mix. If your looking for software for older devices, I have a site that holds software for Win CE 2.0 through 2003, and even includes Handheld PCs. I don't currently have any advertising on the site either.

Take care,

I call shenanigans on the Best Software Awards page.

I looked up GPS, and one of the nominations is for Pocket Streets 2005!

the current version of this product is Microsoft Streets & Trips 2008 -- and I don't think it includes any PPC software -- as far as I know it is now for X86 Windows machines only.

Someone from Smartphone and PocketPC Mag, please explain

Any recommendations of your own?

I'm waiting for a Glofiish X800, btw... :)

There's www.handango.com but they're legendary for poor service after the sale for -some- customers, and for taking a huge percentage of each sale. I've never had a problem with the site but because of other reports I try to buy direct from developer's sites.

and for taking a huge percentage of each sale.

That's part of the reason I've been avoiding PocketGear, also. I'm surprised something better hasn't been started over the years.
