I receive email with attachments on my Windows 2003SE device.

I open the attachment and make changes ... but those changes are lost when I close the email.

Is there anyway I can change this behavious so that changes are automatically saved [or, even better, when I close the email I am prompted to either Save or Discard the changes].

Maybe there is a way of doing this manuall, on the fly?

Currently I am having to do Save As and effectively take a copy of the attachment and work on that .. eventually I can [if i wish] email that file back to the sender.

Attachment handling and other "round-tripping" issues have always been a challenge with the Pocket PC. The new WM6 helps address (finally) a lot of them, but that doesn't help you.

Unfortunately, AFAIK, the best way to hedge against what you describe is to save the attachment as a separate document -- preferably before even editing it. The e-mail and document-handling features on the Pocket PC are (obviously) less robust than on the desktop and intuitive things like ensuring that changes aren't lost aren't always available.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
