For the past few months I have been happily checking my emails and browsing the net on my HP hx 2410. Suddenly this morning, though it would connect to my wifi router, IE could not find a single page; I received one error message after another saying that the page could not be found.

The wireless if working on my laptop and I have checked all the settings on my pda but still no luck.

I have checked the HP manual and googled for solutions but still nothing.

Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

...maybe a hard reset would restore the browser function....?

I'd first check the router, if you can, to make sure that you are truly 'connected' You should be able to see the name and MAC address of your iPaq on the router config somewhere and then see what services it has available.

If all that looks OK, then try a soft reset to see if you can clear out the connection settings on your iPAQ. What we'd be looking for here is a way for your iPAQ to 'rediscover' the router and let you re-establish now and what it connects you to (i.e. 'The Internet' or 'Work', etc.)

A hard reset is pretty drastic, since they you'd lose most of your work, data, etc. But it does sound like a problem with the connection to your router, not the iPAQ.

Thanks for the suggestion Don.

Yes, it does look like there is a connection to the router.

First, check your router settings, as stated before. Assure that the signal output is set to "mixed", because if it is not set to mixed, it will be outputting higher signals (e.g. G/N). I am positive that if you do not have a high-end iPAQ, or if you do not have a external network card, you have an internal "B" card.
If this is not the case, I did some digging of my own, try this link here: javascript:openExternal('http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=215348&prodSeriesId=421399&swItem=ip-46623-1&prodNameId=443063&swEnvOID=2067&swLang=8&taskId=135&mode=4&idx=0')

I am not sure whether or not this patch resets the ROM or not, so make sure you back up your data before you use this update.
According to the list, Wifi is one the fixes it performs. Although, upon reading further, I cannot see where a hard reset is performed. Good Luck.

Thanks Ben! I really appreciate your digging!

The link looks good; I'll try it tonight when I am home from work. <fingers crossed>

I'll keep you posted.

Sadly my OS is 2003 and the drivers in the link are for Mobile 2005......

Well I had really enjoyed having the internet connectivity on my pda and miss it now. I've decided to order a Palm TX and once it gets here transfer my data to the new device, manually typing the doc info and redoing as much of my calender as possible. Then I will try to do a hard reset on the ipaq to see if I can get the browser to work again as, obviously, this would improve the price when I go to sell the ipaq.

I don't want to try the hard reset right away though as I have a lot of data that I can't afford to lose and I'm not sure how reliable the restore feature of the back up really is.

So that's the plan for now....I'll keep you posted in case this thread is of interest to others with a similar problem.

Create a backup.
On all pre-wm5 ipaqs there is a backup application.
Once backed up. Hard reset. Test. Restore from backup.

This is likely a settings problem.
