I have two issues I would appreciate help on, both related.

1. I would like to eliminate the stupid growling sound on the PTT new version of the ROM for a Cingular 8525. I found the sound file but when I try to delete it I get a "cannot delete" error message. Anyone know how to get around this?

2. I moved some True Type fonts from XP into the Fonts folder in the Windows folder. I now want to delete them since I need to maximize space and memory. I get the same error message, saying I cannot delete.

The common thread is obviously that WM5 seems to prevent deletions from the Windows folder.

I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has figured out a hack that will allow me to get around this.

Thanks.

I know there are some files that cannot be erased, but I have been able to replace them. Case in point-The upgraded rom had a very loud "3G" splash screen built in. I tried to delete the sound file, but it would nott let me. I found a thread in Cingular's forum saying that there was a fix for it. I could download a file with the exact same name and extension, and it would replace the file. Someone had the same 3G splash screen sound file, but had turned the gain way down. That fixed the problem. If you can create another sound file and name it exactly the same, you may be able to replace the sound with something a bit more agreeable.
