ListPro 5 is out, with Pocket PC and Smartphone editions (of course). Some of the coolest features that I'm digging are the ability to have live URLs in the notes pane as well as the list items, and the highlighting. My lists can look pretty now. Adding pictures is also nice, especially for step-by-step lists (e.g. screenshots). Ilium's site should have the new version listed, as well as pricing, and trial downloads.

Seconded. The rich text formatting is an absolute boon. :D

Thanks guys!
We're really glad you like it and frankly, we're excited about it on a user level as well. As soon as I got a beta copy from the developers, I redid my ebook collection list adding cover pics to all the notes.

I really like ListPro, but I'm a bit disappointed in a couple of things. I'm running 2003SE so maybe that plays a part in this.
First, I can't seem to get the images to work on the Pocket PC - they all show up with an icon that seems to represent a broken link. Maybe that's just me or my PPC. Does anyone else have an issue with this?
Second, the Rich Text editing in the notes section isn't very user friendly. There are no shortcuts - in order to set a word to bold I have to stop typing, grab the mouse, highlight a word, right-click, select Format on the menu, click on Bold, click on OK. That's a far cry from hitting ctrl-B before and after typing the word.
I really like ListPro. I've used it for a long time on both the desktop and on my iPAQ. In fact, it's one of the most useful apps I have. The two issues above will probably cause me to stick with version 4 though.

I'm not sure why that would be. So far we've only run into this problem if the images aren't where they are supposed to be. Why not drop the support folks a line (

Good points and while there is a reason, the fact of the matter is that I agree. We're certainly going to continue improving the rich text experience.

I use List Pro everyday because I use it's notes section as a diary for home projects or work related activity. Although the new version is a significant improvement I was hoping for it to include a spellchecker. I agree with the format discussion above, I'd like to format and then type rather than the other way around (I'm referring to highlighting specific words, not all words). I also use the red, yellow, green to status my projects but find the new "stop light" version to be too tiny to see the colors even on my PC screen.
I know I'm complaining a lot and I do really like the new version but many of the changes seem cosmetic. I use Phatnotes for other reasons and their capabilities more resemble what you can do with a Word document.I was hoping List Pro would leap forward a bit more than it did.
My last whine is, will List Pro ever sync with my Motorola Q?
I already upgraded and would have paid far more because I use the program so much. Overall it is a great product and is getting better.

We'll keep this in mind when we start working on ListPro 5.1!

Maybe. :) Really! If your Motorola Q receives an upgrade to Windows Mobile 6 Standard, you'll be able to use File synchronization through ActiveSync/WMDC just like you would if you had a Pocket PC.
For now, you might find the Publish feature easier to use than manually copying the file, at least for moving data from your PC to your phone.
Our developers are also still looking at other ways to improve ListPro synchronization.

Any news of a Mac version being available yet ? I would love to be able to access and synchronise ListPro to a Mac.

Sorry. A Mac version remains something we are keeping in mind but we've made no plans to make one yet.

Does anyone know if this version does more than just file-level synchronization?
I love ListPro...but I find that its usefulness is somewhat limited in that I need to be sure to exit ListPro on my desktop to know that I have an up-to-date file on my windows mobile device.
Likewise, I need to make sure I am sync'd with my device before I make changes on my desktop.
This is just painful enough that I find I'm using ListPro primarily on my desktop (well, laptop) instead of on my device, which is what I originally bought it for.

No, 5.0 doesn't include item level sync.
It does add a publish function that lets you send files over to your mobile device with a click. This feature lets Smartphone users move files more easily (as most of you know, the Windows Mobile Smartphone left out file sync...although that is changing in WM 6+Vista), it gives all users a way to quickly send a file to their device, and it provides a method of automatically sending pictures and other linked files over (so that if you make a really great list with pics on the desktop, you can transfer the file and all associated images to the devices and get the exact same experience there...no need to manually move pics and files.)
We are looking at an improved sync for a future version.

I haven't installed any new apps on my PDA in over 6 months, mainly due to lack of interest. When I saw LP 5.0 I had to check it out. The included GTD template looked so good I moved over my whole GTD world to it from Jello Dashboard. I still don't use it on my PDA much, mostly just on the PC. I also decided to cut over everything I had in phatnotes over to LP 5.0 so I can de-clutter a little.
Anybody else buy PDA apps with the windows counterpart and then end up mainly using the desktop version? That's definitely how it is for me.

I actually started in the opposite direction....moving List Pro stuff to PhatNotes because PhatNotes has more MS Word like features (although List Pro is headed in that direction), PhatNotes has a spellchecker and much better reminder program.
I use my PC normally to create and/or update the data for various programs and only use the PPC and Moto Q for reference. I've had too many problems with updating info on the PPC version and sometimes it syncs back to the PC and sometimes it gets deleted. Activesync occasionally asks if I want to sync "in the other direction" but sometimes it doesn't.
