I had a 4150 that I used for a few years, but stopped carrying it because I didn't find myself needing it. Now i need a PDA again. I also need a new cell phone. So, enter PDA phone. Leaning heavily towards the 8525. Any reason not to? Wait for something better?

I'm looking for a list of highly recommended software for WM5. I can just pull the list of install programs on my 4150, but I want to see what is new and exciting.

When is WM6 meant to be out? Will I be able to upgrade on the 8525?

Also, any tips tricks, whathaveyou I should know? Anything you wish someone had told you with your first PDA phone?

Thanks!

The 8525 is a pretty nice device. My mother-in-law has one and I'm amazed at it's updated look and function over my Wizard. No reason I can think of to wait, unless you really want WM 6 (As I haven't heard any confirmation that the 8525 will get a 6 upgrade). I'm currently waiting for the Kaiser to become widely available (it's the same style device), but I don't expect that for another 2 - 3 months at the earliest.

Many of the old-standbys are still around, updated, and extremely useful (e.g., PI, eWallet, etc..). You may want to check out Spb's newer offerings (e.g., Mobile Shell, Phone Suite) as they are pretty nice.

WM 6 is technically "out", it just hasn't appeared for very many devices in upgrade form yet. Don't know about the 8525 as far as an upgrade.

Hmm.. well, bluetooth headsets rock (and are a necessity in my opinion), the cell coverage has gotten a lot better than the original PPC phones from the 4150 era, don't try to do too many things at once on a PPC phone if you're expecting an important phonecall (heh... streaming video over WiFi while running a task in the background may be enough to cause your phone's ring to be a bit sluggish). There's my advice!

There is always something better round the corner I am afrraid in this game, but I think its a matter of needs first and then keeping half an eye open

I can only give you my recommendations
Pocket Informant 2007 is excellent very functionally rich
Spb Mobile shell is also very useful
Spb Finance good
Spb Weather good
Natura Daynotez is great for a journalling and making daybook entries

My only suggestion is that if you have the time and the inclination use the free trial period that comes along with a lot of software to ensure that you have the right product.

Welcome back

ps I dont work for Spb but I am hoping to get a commission out of the sales made to you :D

I personally like having all the features all in one, that's why I got the HP 6925, has WiFi, GPS (TomTom works great), WiFi works great and all is fine......

I was using the i320N (like the blackjack), the HP is way bigger, but u really do get use to it.... also for me, a phone that was just a touchpad wasn't in the question, thats why i got the 6925 since it has the qwerty (which has made it a lot easier to use the device).

I wouldn't get the Kaiser or anything because its a drag to constantly push out the qwerty and then the screen changes and all that sort of thing...

Until the next good phone comes out I would definatlely say it's going to be a while unless theres a big surprise we don't know about coming from HTC or someone with the iPhone launch.
