A., etc. Overall, it looks to be a nice upgrade from the PPC-6700.

Anyone looking forward to this unit?

 welcome to last year Sprint.

For those of us that have to use Sprint who cares! It's an upgrade from the 6700 and that's what matters.

- Looking forward to it here!

Yep, an 8525, but with WM6. I have been waiting for an upgrade to 6700 for almost a year. Now, as long as I don't get screwed over and have to pay full price for the upgrade, I'm there.

Oh, really? Tell me that the 8525 has 256MB of ROM. Or that it has WM6. Or that it has EVDO Rev. A support.

Of course it looks similar -- that's the point. But your comparison is oversimplistic.

I wonder if it has push-to-talk, so I can use it on the Nextel network.

It won't have PTT, and the Mogul is different from the 8525 - first of all, Sprint users will be able to use it with ridiculously cheap 3G that covers a lot more area than at&t's 3G, and it'll come with WM6 out of the box along with more ROM.

The only thing I'll miss is using the A-GPS with a GPS program like Telenav etc.

Too bad HTC doesn't make phones with VGA displays. Does anyone know of 3rd party programs that let you tether? I hear tethering costs extra with the 6800, since they can actually track it now.

By design, this device is superior to the 8525 (Hermes). From the casing material and thinness to the spring-loaded keyboard - I've played with the TELUS version myself and am very impressed. A shame HTC didn't release a refresh of the Hermes in this form as I am a GSM user. As noted above - the 256MB ROM is an excellent addition, I generally dislike installing programs on storage card.

Can anyone explain to me why they cannot give us a bigger screen. Look at all those buttons at the top and all that space on the front of the unit. You can fit at least a 3 inch lcd there. And don't get me started on the whole micro sd crap  I own a Hermes and while this is slightly better, until they give me a VGA it's simply not worth to upgrade.

So, dude, you want VGA on a 2.8" device(like eten's model? ). I saw one personally(the eten one) and sceen looked damn sharp, but, will surely give you a heavy strain in your eyes if you are browsing in VGA-mode(ie high-resolution mode)

LOL!

Here's a list of upgrades I see in the P4000 over the 6700 (Telus' version of the 6800/Mogal)
-30% thinner
-spring loaded keyboard with rubber texture for easier use
-indicator lights for function and caplock
-256mb ROM double that of the 6700
-dual core processor
- REV A compatible (with software upgrade which Telus has officially announce they will do)
-scroll wheel
-more buttons on face and sides
-better one-handedoperation
-bigger battery
-better battery life
-removal of obtrusive antenna
-better brighter screen
-better 2mp camera with improved software and settings
-Dpad...much improved over the joystick
-AKU 3.3 which brings with it A2DP among other things WM6.0 on the Sprint version)

I just got back from the Verizon Upward Mobility Launch. This event was basically a REV-A launch for Verizon in the Phoenix Valley. Many software app venders were there to display their wireless apps capability on REV-A.

I got to play with a US Starcom XV-6800 (HTC Titan). This phone was sweet!!! I took some pictures with my XV-6700 as posted below (not very good pics). Very thin and the assisted screen lift was great. I will be purchasing this phone. The demo unit the rep had only had WM5 but he stated that on release it will have WM6 and REV-A. The release date stated by this rep will be July 14th!!!

It won't have PTT,

But why not? Is Sprint/Nextel listening?

I have posted about this several times on this forum. I want a ppc phone edition with Direct Connect. Come on already.

Now this is interesting. The sprint and vzw versions have different designs? I wonder if there is more different than the looks. I'm glad sprint's child is the handsome one. :D

How cheap is cheap? $39.99 for unlimited usage including tethering to a laptop?

the 8525 is getting WM6, probably about the same time this thing launches....so that point is moot. And how many average joes can take advantage of a 256M ROM? The cookers will love it, but not much else. Rev A support? who cares....the 8525 is HSDPA.

nothing over simplistic about this....its just Spent trying to put spin on a device that's been out for a while now. No different than ATT trying to spin the Q.

Hi, there are a few of us who don't care to pay Cingular their outrageous fees for service in the U.S. Don't get jealous because your 8525 won't any of these features, except WM6...and BTW, who really wants to wait for Cingular to tell you when you get WM6? Stick with your outdated device, I'll take this one and the cheaper monthly bill all day long.
