Active Tasks display under WM6...

Hey, has anyone else who has upgraded to WM6 noticed that the listing of Tasks no longer works properly?

Although the Today screen plug-in identifies 'Active' Tasks properly, when you go to the listing, selection of the 'active' filter shows not only the ones which are due now, but those that are due in the future.

Anyone been able to figure out how to set the filters, etc. to make this work properly so that when Today says there are 5 active tasks, the task list shows the same 5 tasks?

This may drive me to PI or Agenda Fusion!!!! :lol:

Isn't that the expected behaviour? Generally, tasks are considered active until they're completed, regardless of their due date.

Don is absolutely right, but he's confusing due dates with start dates.

Tasks due in the future are considered active if their start date is on or before the present day. I typically set the start date of future tasks, in the future. In WM 5 they wouldn't show up in the active list until the start date arrived. Now in WM 6 all future tasks show up in the list, rendering my task list nearly useless to me.

I'm very frustrated because I rely on my tasks list. When I've completed the tasks due, or to be started that day, the task list clears out, and that's how I know I'm done.

How could they botch one of their core PIM apps like this?

Does anyone know how to report things like this to Microsoft? Also, I wonder if this is device-specific. I'm suffering this problem with the T-Mobile Wing.

Hi Phoneboy101 -- yes, you're right, I should have been more precise and said 'Start Dates', cuz I do the same thing -- setting up tasks that have start dates and due dates far in the future. I don't want to be dealing with these until the start date, not right now. (That's the whole point of Start Dates, wasn't it???)

Anywho, it's not device specific, since I'm dealing with this on an Eten X500. Also, I notice the same behaviour (roughly) on the desktop version of Outlook. On the Outlook Today page, you get a list of the 'active Tasks', but if you click on Tasks to look at the list, you get all currently active and future Tasks. And I can't find any way to change the display of this list to just show the ones that are really active.

My feeling is that either a) MS is going to some 'standard' for listing tasks, which doesn't match what I want/need or b) someone screwed up the Filters on WM Tasks.

That would be terrific! I've tried playing with all settings, and I do think it is a programming mistake in WM6. Thank you!

Has this been solved? i just upgraded to a Samsung Omnia from my old Treo 700wx. This Tasks issue was the first thing I noticed! Any work-arounds?
