View Full Version : Remove battery, clock resets itself?

I've got an iMate JAMin that's acting a little strange lately. If I pull the battery for whatever reason for longer than a few seconds, the clock will resort back to the factory default rom image time, which is about 16 months ago as of this post. But if I turn it all the way off for 15 minutes or more, it's fine.
Has anyone else experienced this? If so, is it JAMin-specific, or is it Windows Mobile 5-wide?

I don't think it's specific to the device or WM5; it depends on the specific hardware. Some devices have better backup power than others, and it seems like a lot of Phone Edition devices skimp on the internal space needed for a decent backup battery.

So it does have a backup battery. The OS doesn't report this, though WM2003 devices reported the backup battery. Does the OS combine backup battery life with regular battery when reporting percentage remaining?

Sorry, what I meant was that some Phone Edition devices don't even HAVE a backup battery. Some do (I believe), but many opt to omit it in order to keep the device smaller.

Fair enough, but my last question still stands:
Does the OS combine backup battery life with regular battery when reporting percentage remaining?
The Treo (750) can keep the time with no battery, and it also reports just the one battery in the Power applet.

I don't believe that Windows Mobile combines the batteries when showing the battery remaining. If you run out of battery, you shut down. That backup battery is just for time and such. I use a Symbol Falcon handheld, and it has 3rd party software that tells the life of the 2nd internal battery.
Take care,
